I need your help, is about welder performance.; CODE ASME IX

Process: SMAW  T=10 mm  : qualified range: 10 mm  to 20 mm ?????

Process: GTAW + SWAM   T= 12 mm ( GTAW t= 3 mm, SMAW t= 9 mm) : qualified range :GTAW 3 mm to 6 mm, SMAW  9 mm to 18 mm ???

Please refer the Sec IX QW 450 Procedure Qualification Thickness Limits and Test Specimens and QW 452 Performance Qualification Thickness Limits and Test Specimens.

thanks,  the problem is minimum qualified thickness,

Hi

ASME IX does not give minimum qualified thickness for welder performance qualifications. So, if the welder welded 10mm SMAW, s/he is qualified for <=20mm. Same for a mixed GTAW/SMAW qualification.
