My wife was saying that! She saw it and said, "WoW!!! Don't know if I'd want if for our house though. Different tastes". Told her the gate would be worth more than our house!!!! It's awesome work though, would love to hear the price tag on that jewel!

Well hell fellas, it's a damn nice gate. But I could shampoo a buffalo right about now, and probably at 30 yards too!

I can't help it!!

A few of those would make a nice retirement.  But getting on to the gate....The whole design with the posts and everything is just amazing design, extremely creative and thought out.  I shudder to think of the hours put in it.  I would love to meet the person(s) that did it just to ask how did you.....?  Matter of fact that thing looks like you could fill a textbook with all the technique used to build it.

Thanks Marshall, that is so amazing how someone can come up with something like that.

Curious to know how much is the gate?

I bid on the job, quoted it at 10 hours + materials...

That's a seriously impressive gate.

What is this guy "the last metal bender" that stuff is awesome I consider myself a damn good fabricator but I don't feel the stool I am sitting on is nearly as high as this guys

Texwelder that is what i think about it.....even if I thought that up I would struggle to build it. Looking at the website i see TIME........Jeez you are replicating spoons and forks....by hand.   Way beyond me but I wish to learn the skills.  If you really look at the drawings/ production pieces, well I simply admire the skill required, it is beyond ambition...you need some serious skills available to even think about trying that.

again thank you  Marshall...

I would like to hear our forging enthusiasts comments on just the gate alone.
Parent - - By Chris2626 (***) Date 04-03-2012 17:32
this has to be a million or more
Parent - - By texwelder (***) Date 04-03-2012 22:17
Price isn't a concern if your considering having something like that built the more you pay the more powerful you are in that group of friends
Parent - By Chris2626 (***) Date 04-04-2012 00:53
I guess so but once the money is gone friends are gone

That is awesome. Stainless has to be forged really hot, or it doesn't move. From this picture, it is hard to tell just how much was forged. There is a lot of hot rolled angle that has been tapered and formed. The sheet metal was raised.

Time ?  To get to that polished finish from forged, raised or hot rolled takes a huge ammount of time, and a good bit of skill with the grinders. As You approach a good polished finish, it really looks like hell if it is lumpy, and that "lumpyness" is hard to get rid of.

Just to come up with the design takes a good artist. To complete a project like this takes a great one.

very impressive stuff on their website.

C'mon Tommy, are you telling me that if someone paid you enough, you wouldn't obsess about it until you produced it?

You would...
Parent - - By Tommyjoking (****) Date 04-16-2012 00:22
Maybe...I am stubborn enough.....but I can tell you I would scrap a whole lot of material trying to get there!!!

They are starting a battle over religion next door in another thread....gotta go........this is gonna be a good one!
