SUMMARY
Conducts variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on welding systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.

•  Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
•  Tests functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity.
•  Orders parts and maintains stock of repair parts for repair facility.
•  Connects unit to be tested to test equipment.
•  Reads dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
•  Compares results with specifications and records test data.
•  Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure.
•  Replaces defective wiring and components or records defects on tag attached to unit and returns unit to manufacturer for repair.
•  Devises test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units.
•  Generates repair invoices.
•  Service calls to customer locations for repairs as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•  One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
•  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
•  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
•  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
•  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. 
•  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
•  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
•  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

•  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment. 
•  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
•  Employee must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hard Hat, and Metatarsals.
