Position Summary 
The Welding Instructor will report to the Executive Dean and will work collaboratively in a team environment. This position is responsible for providing instruction in the welding area in accordance with the educational objectives of Blackhawk Technical College. Late afternoon/evening and/or weekend courses will be scheduled. This position will also develop, maintain, and upgrade curriculum in areas of instructional delivery.

Position Responsibilities 
1. Provide instruction for assigned classes. Courses may be conducted through individualized and/or classroom instruction.
2. Provide tutoring in a learning lab setting for General Education students.
3. Assess prospective student to determine academic readiness.
4. Assess and monitor students’progress in all courses to ensure program yearly goals are met.
5. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
6. Coordinate the delivery of instruction for all courses offered. Coordination would include such activities as assessing students’ needs and progress, goal setting and implementing assessment and evaluation.
7. Assist in orienting and training part-time instructors about courses, processes and regulations.
8. Maintain accurate student records, client reporting information and reports as requested by Dean and State and Federal grants.
9. Prepare monthly reports on instructional activities and students’ goals and achievements.
10. Develop and implement strategies for the retention and transition of all students in the basic skills program.
11. Assist in student recruitment by promoting programs to social service agencies and to the community.
12. Assist students in realizing where help can be provided and referring students with problems to Student Services. Cooperate with Student Services in helping students adjust to his/her learning environment.
13. Remain current of developments in the teaching field so that instruction is up-to-date.
14. Prepare, update and routinely monitor course curricula content that reflects BTC’s curricula management system. This includes course syllabi, performance objectives, competencies and audiovisual, multimedia, or other supporting materials. Work cooperatively with staff or other divisions in coordinating courses.
15. Attend and actively participate in BTC division meetings, in-service workshops, and serve on District committees as assigned.
16. Demonstrate professionalism in all instructional activities. Assist other instructors when appropriate.
17. Report all student violations of school regulations to administration and assist in the enforcement of school regulations.
18. Cooperate with and assist the Dean in duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 
1.  Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two (2) years of welding experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Includes familiarity in the following areas:
*  Destructive and Non-Destructive Testing
*  Visual Inspection Welds.
*  Weldability of Metals (ferrous/non-ferrous)
*  Liquid, penetrate and magnetic particle inspection
*  Welding Robotics
*  Blueprint Reading and Welding Design and Fabrication
2. Must meet Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements and be willing to maintain such certification.
3.  Ability to function without direct supervision in a team environment.
4.  Ability to develop and work within the framework of a program budget.

Preferred Qualifications 
1.  Post-secondary teaching experience.
2.  Strong pipe fitting/fabrication experience.
3.  Demonstrated experience in welding procedure qualification to ASME, API, or AWS or DOD standards.
4.  Working knowledge of Windows-based computer systems.
5.  Working toward or holding a Certified Welding Inspector’s (CWI) and/or Certified Welding Educator’s Certification (CWE).

Hello Lawrence, are you folks expanding or allowing for replacement of an existing position? Just curious mainly. Also looks like you might be trying to cover some areas in pipe fitting/fabrication/welding? The wife settled down a bit on getting on to a new area for now, a while back she was wanting to move and Florida was on the slate, but as sometimes goes it has since passed.
