G'day,

I am in the process of "localizing" (for Australia) some pipe fabrication procedures for a client. They have received a document from the US where it refers to "Class IIR butt welds". So far, after a lot of asking around, no one can tell me what a Class IIR butt weld is, or refer me to a standard where this comes from. I need to establish what one is and then see which local standard and type would apply.

Any pointers?

Thanks.

Ian.

It may help if you could tell us what it's intended service is.

What code are you working with and what is the application?

Your question is like asking what is the color of stone? It depends on where you are.

Best regards - Al
