Hi! I have a doubt with the procedure of requalification (extended validity) of welders to AWS D17.1 at para 5.2.3.2

The company I'm working for, uses the process GTAW and PAW. The welders are qualified to AWS D17.1 for different material groups and also in both process. My doubt is concerned with the amount of information required to justify the auditable record. Take the following for example:

Welder qualified in GTAW and PAW, the qualification cover Titanium and Nickel Base Alloys and in all the cases the welder made two test welds with 0.040 in and 0.400 in. So the welder is qualified in:
-GTAW: Titanium, range (0.027 to 1.6)
               Nickel,    range (0.027 to 1.6)
-PAW:   Titanium, range (0.027 to 1.6)
               Nickel,    range (0.027 to 1.6)

In order to extend his validity, every 6 month for this welder the number of production evidences I need to record is:
   a) 2 evidences: 1 of GTAW weld and 1 of PAW weld.
   b) 4 evidences: 2 of GTAW weld (1 on Titanium and 1 on Nickel), same in PAW.
   c) 8 evidences: 4 of GTAW weld (2 on Titanium (1 on range 0.027 to 0.160 and 1 on range 0.268 to 1.600) , same on Nickel) and same in PAW.

Thank you

It would be (A),just have the guy weld a couple of production parts he normally welds and log it.That's all we do,and we've never failed an Audit.
