hello guys,

has anyone encountered the wps qualification test of the flare-bevel-groove - indirect butt joint fig 6.5 (c)?
why there was no detail about the size and grade of the plates connecting the two bars?
what basis in selection of the correct plates that can be used?

AWS D1.4 (2010), Figure 6.5(C) shows the bar laying in a piece of angle and it has dimension requirements with the drawing.  If you're doing a Macroetch test an A36 plate would probably be fine.

thanks

 i would not ask if there is:razz:
do you encountered this test or not?
all i need to know are the details of steel plates, why not given?
the plate grade & sizes could be no significant?? i guess.
