Please I want to make some repairs inside a Pressure Vessel in order to restore its base metal thickness.
I didn't find nothing specific in ASME IX to qualify it.
May I use the same WPS used for standard butt weld done on it.
Thanks, any input is appreciated in advance.

Midwelder,
Your answer will not be in ASME IX - you must look in ASME VIII - that will tell you what you can and cannot do,
Cheers,
Shane

Midwelder, you need to look for words such as 'Buttering'  or even 'Overlaying'. As Shane has stated, the answers in ASME 8!

Shane,
I've got it, ASME VIII - UW42 and then ASME IX for qualification.
Thanks.

If the vessel has a code stamped name plate and if the owner wishes to retain the code status of the vessel, the repairs must be carried out in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code and the repairs must be performed by a company that has an "R" stamp.
