Ok, so would someone who's got some knowledge fill me in a little on plasma cutters? Keeping in mind I'd be using this in a home workshop (currently have a 30 amp 220V circuit, could run a 50-amp 220V circuit if necessary), what are features to look for? I've seen two relatively inexpensive refurbished models being sold for around $500. One is a big transformer based unit w/ 35 amps, the other is a small inverter-based unit w/ 30 amps. Both say they can cut up to 3/8" steel. (I'd assume the thinner the material, the neater the cut, correct?) Both are 220V. Any idea roughly how much juice either would draw from the wall? Is the difference between transformer-based and inverter-based plasma cutter power supplies roughly equivalent to the difference between transformer vs. inverter-based TIG machines? (I've heard the power supplies are very similar.) Any thoughts, please post!
Thx!
