Not that kind you sickos...that's on my other website:evil:  I was commisioned to do an art piece for a local visitors bureau.  Biking, kayaking, and rock climbing are the main recreational pursuits here in the New River Gorge, hence the elements of the sculpture.  It was 24' tall, and I raised, I mean erected it with a "gin pole" arrangement.  Kinda like a letter "L" on its side, which then gets rotated upright.  No budget for a crane, but a 2 ton comealong provided all the motive force needed.  The climber element was made with a JD2 bender, man those things are sweet.  Designed in TurboCad

That's pretty cool!

I know what you mean about the biking, climbing and kayaking! We were right thru your area about mid October. Stopped at the New River Gorge bridge and climbed down the walking trail to the lookout. Great looking country around there and the mountains, amazing!

next time you are in the neighborhood, look me up and I can take you down the river.  I've been a raft guide for a whole lot longer than I've been welding, between the new and the Gauley we've got some great water here.  To put it into a welders metaphor, the New River is like a 1" D1.1 test.....the Gauley is 6GR, with one hand, and a mirror.

devo,
Dude, if I could have hooked up into being a professional guide/river rat, running baggage barges through the home of foam, I'd never have struck an arc...
Awesome sculpture BTW.

It is amazing, the creativity some people are blessed with. It isn’t something that can be learned in a classroom. You gotts it or you don’t. A good welder and a little creativity and presto - sculpture!

Looks great!
