LORAIN, OHIO (February 1, 2013) -- The National Center for Welding Education and Training (Weld-Ed) located at Lorain County Community College in Ohio, has announced its 2013 professional development workshop series, which includes five key state-of-the-art training modules designed exclusively for welding educators.

The hands-on, instructional workshops offer welding educators a broad selection of affordable, interactive training conducted throughout the Summer at teaching facilities located around the U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska).

The five modules encompass virtually every aspect of the welding profession, including:

*  Welding Metallurgy (2 workshop locations to choose from)
*  Joining and Cutting Processes  (4 workshop locations)
*  Design, Assembly and Robotic Welding (2 workshop locations)
*  Weld Quality and Inspection; Welding Codes, Specifications and Safety (3 workshop locations)
*  Laser Welding (1 workshop location)

Detailed descriptions, locations and easy registration for the professional development workshops can be found at  www.bit.ly/welded2013.

Early Registration Discount

Each of the 12 available workshops encompasses five days of comprehensive training (Monday through Friday) and are conducted at training facilities at eight different locations around the U.S.  The cost for each workshop is only $99 if registration is completed by March 31, 2013.  After that date, the registration fee increases to $149.

The registration fee includes all hotel accommodations (for participants who are traveling), breakfast and lunch each day (plus one group dinner during the week), a welding jacket, class T-shirt, and all classroom-ready training materials.  Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

The participants in each workshop will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance by the National Center for Welding Education and Training, and CEU will be awarded upon request.

Weld-Ed states that the full retail value of each workshop, including accommodations and meals, is nearly $2,000, but the Center is able to offer the $99 early-registration price thanks in part to a grant from the National Science Foundation which helps support the National Center for Welding Education and Training.

Class Size Limited to 20 Participants

Each Weld-Ed professional development workshop is limited to a maximum of 20 participants per location, and early registration is highly recommended to guarantee a spot, according to Weld-Ed sources.

The workshops utilize state-of-the-art technology, techniques and training methods to ensure welding educators are fully updated on the latest developments, trends, equipment and methods used in today's ever-expanding welding field.

The courses are specifically designed for welding educators seeking professional development as instructors in secondary and post-secondary welding programs. The qualification and certification standards for entry level welders and welding technicians, as established by the American Welding Society, will be covered in all five modules.

"This year's professional development workshop series helps to fulfill Weld-Ed's goal of equipping educators with the skills and knowledge they need to greatly impact student learning," said Weld-Ed Director, Duncan Estep.  "Our objective is to offer a cutting-edge learning environment facilitated by highly experienced instructors who provide welding educators with the tools to positively affect their students' ability to learn and succeed in this increasingly complex and rewarding field."

Past year's participants in Weld-Ed's professional development workshops have expressed overwhelming approval of the training, saying it increased their knowledge and preparedness to teach concepts to their students, and improved their conceptual understanding of the various topics discussed.

Most notable was the ability to take part in hands-on lab training, which helped to boost participants' confidence in using new tools and techniques, while motivating them to implement additional strategies in their own classrooms, according to post-workshop educator surveys.

Registration is currently open for Weld-Ed's professional development workshops.  To register, visit www.bit.ly/welded2013.  Weld-Ed accepts all credit cards when registering for the workshops.

hello - just took one of the Weld Ed blended learning courses!   Really enjoyed it.  Terrific value.  Hope they do more of the blended learning courses. Works well for someone who can't take a full week off work or school.
