I was not aware the term was not familiar with across the pond! It is very common over in Europe.

Hi doitdorado,

Please refer to ISO 6520-1 or ISO 5817 for the definition of "end crater pipe". It's caused by weld metal solidification shrinkage at the end of welding pass and will not occur if a bit more weld metal is added when stop the arc. It looks like a underfill which is defined in AWS.
