I have been charged with making a WPS for a new part at my company. The part has both a single flare bevel weld using square tubing and round stock and a single bevel groove weld using square tubing and plate, neither of which have specified the groove angle. The components are particular small which makes checking the angle by hand difficult, what are my options so as not to leave out disqualifying information.

What code are you welding do?  I think the AWS D1 codes have provisions for listing the weld joint details on the WPQ and WPS documents.  In fact this is a common practice for some manufacturers.  All you really need to prevent confusion with any weld joint symbol is a note number in the tail of the weld symbol and a note and/or small detail image on the weld procedure documents and design drawings.
