Sir,
Lightning ! Looking for work. I went in on a job I had since 1 October 2000 Friday August 26th. At lunch time I was told to go to the "advocates office" that I did not know existed and were told I was suspended without pay and had the rest the days pay. I proceeded with finishing my lunch. I was told that I had to be escorted out of the building without delay in no way able to pickup my possessions. The day before I rode the train with a person who appeared to be mayor of the City of New York Mike Bloomberg with 70 billion a year budget. As I pass seven feet from Mike a fellow ( male 60 yo ) doubles up seated so that looked directly at the floor 18 inch below and I hear "We will kill you". I have interacted with Mike for years and responded to said words and hopefully his security people did to. This is not a report from deep space or Super Market tabloid. Lightning ! Looking for work. Hope I am helpful.
           Sincerely
Len Andersen weld@spemail.org

TEXWelder and All,
Know thirst happens with welding. Did not do much drinking. Glad I flew that way. Get past 40 and see ones which did a lot of drinking not ----! Len this end looking for work and appreciates intelligent life out there that are not looking to us involved in sticking iron together. Please vote they are getting ridiculous. Hope I am helpful.

Okay, briefly, Len struggles from our standpoint with English.  There are other points that don't need to be put up here but click on his name and read his profile.  I believe he is Norwegian.  He is an intelligent man and has accomplished much.

It appears he just lost his job of 13 years with the city of New York.  May have said something to someone who was threatening the mayor, no comment there, and it was wrongly interpreted by others, possibly security for the mayor if that is who it actually was.  He wasn't sure.  In his position he has met the mayor but I don't think you could say they were on a first name basis.

The job may not have been linked to the train incident.  Doesn't appear conclusive at this point.  Quite a coincidence though if not.

Sorry about the job situation Len.  Hope it all gets worked out.  I would be forcing the issue with personal possessions immediately as you need many of them to work somewhere else.

They may be looking to make sure there are no "weapons" amongst them and even doing some deeper investigations before simply clearing you to return to work.  Hopefully they are just doing due diligence to make sure of what happened.

Good luck.  Our prayers are with you.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Thanks for that update Brent. Len's posts are hard to dicipher sometimes, and it appears that he wrote this very quickly and without trying to give out too much information about the situation he found himself in.

Sorry about the situation Len, I hope everything works out for you.

Took a bit before I decided to say a bit more here John.

For all, any of you guys my age and older, ever do time in the army in Viet Nam?  That should say a few things right there about the man.  Not putting down any military service, but that was the beginning of some warfare styles, chemicals, and situations that few of our people had ever experienced before.

Ever travel in areas with a high concentration of Scandanavians?  The accent is unmistakable.  And carrys on for generations.  But, regardless of his nationality, he claims only to be "American".

There are others here who know Len.  I have only had internet contact.  He is indeed difficult to decipher at times.  But he is worthy of respect without the ridicule.  As far as I am concerned, he writes better than some of the guys here who speak perfect English, American style that is.  This is, afterall, an inter-national forum.  We struggle with asians, europeans, mexicans, and many others.  Some even use language translators to try and better communicate with them.  Let's show Len some tolerance as well.

When you get the degrees, certifications, publications, and patents that Len has gotten,  maybe then you can take some shots at him.  But hopefully this country, and this forum, will never come to the point where we put down people we don't understand clearly when they are going through some hard times.

Oh, he does know the mayor by name and face and has been in his presence 100's of times.  So, if he is sure it was the mayor, it probably was.  The rest of the situation is rather hard to figure out.  I personally am hoping he will get cleared and be back at his job in no time.

Best wishes Len.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Years ago when Len first started posting I thought "this guy is crazy"

I quickly realized Len is a genius,,, and just expresses himself in a unique way.  (Think Leonardo)

It's worth the time to try to figure out what he is trying to say... He is not wasting time when he posts here and he always makes clear that no matter what subject he is approaching that he is trying to help.

Now when he posts... I shut up and listen.   Sometimes I can't figure it out, sometimes I can...  Thats my problem.

Keep us posted Len...  I really am hoping you will be welcomed back and they find a way to offer you some comfort for the recent stresses you have undergone.

That's the way i understood it also, but i have been at the wrong place at the wrong time as well.  I know its hard after 13yrs just being pushed out.  All your habits, and daily routine's are over.  I don't think he is looking for advice, but in today's economy i have learned that when one door closes ten more open.  Even as hard as it is to get a good job now days( if there are any left) look at as you were ready for a change anyway.  A couple post back somebody commented that you learn something new on every job.  I would sit back and take a little vacation and see where your next job will be.  As much knowledge as you post on here for us young guys i don't think it will be hard for you to find anything.  Head up, take a break, do a little traveling then get back with it.

Sounds to me like there's a connection between the train incident and your immediate suspension.  Probably investigating the incident and your possessions at work.  Weird that you were suspended without pay. Seems like you were judged guilty without a trial.  Hopefully it works out, and you are back working with NYC.

Odd wheels can spook people, but especially in New York. Good luck on a new job, Len. I'm sure you're going to be making someone happy they found you real soon.

No disrespect Stinger but, just what are you saying??? Also, have you ever lived in New York? I await your response.

Doesn't everybody have a relative that's eclectic to one degree or another, has language problem and yet, are so freakin sharp that they can cut paper with their thoughts???:grin::cool:

That describes Len in case anyone's wondering! All the best to you Len!:twisted::wink::cool:

Respectfully,
Henry
