Was asked;

Are Metal cored electrodes still covered in AWS A518 Specification for GMAW electrodes?

I know there was talk of moving it and am thinnking about D1.1 Table 4.5 (3)

Would a change from Solid Wire to Cored wire merit a requalification of WPS's if all other essencial variables remained the same?

Anybody have the most recent copy of A518 on their desk?

I have the 2005 version, which seems to still be the most recent one.
And yes, it does cover metal cored electrodes.

B2.1 lists WPS GMAW Filler Metal essential variables:
Change in F-Number
Change in A-Number
Change in Specification and Classification ( Fracture Toughness Only)
Change in tensile strength exceeding 10K
Changes in supplementary fillers
