We are a community college welding program that for the most part prepare our students to test to the D1.1 criteria regarding visual examination. We are incorporating more pipe welding and are trying to prepare them for that as well as we have a UA Pipefitter local that has shown interest in our group for apprenticeship. I have a Section IX (2010) code book but as you probably well know, undercut and reinforcement allowances are not really addressed. It sounds like it breaks down to the specific B31 section you may be testing to. Without having to purchase all the various sections, is there a "short answer" to what the minimum/maximum that is allowed so we can work toward that? Thanks for the help!
