Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / which oxy-fuel welder to get?
- By jmac2112 (*) Date 03-03-2003 13:01
So, I'm looking at o/a welding setups. What I need is something for light to medium duty, nothing real fancy, no two stage regulators or anything. What are some recommendations? I've seen the ones they sell at Lowes or Home Depot, made by Lincoln/Harris, for about $170. Then there is the Victor Metalpower 150 DLX that I've seen in Harbor Freight for $130 (with 150 series regulators). Harbor freight and other places sell off brand outfits that can all be traced back to a company in Taiwan called ioxygen (usually sold with CGA 540 and 510 regulators).

Also, what do the numbers in the regulator codes mean? I take it that the higher the number, the more heavy duty it is, but I'm not sure.

Any help appreciated!

John
