Does anyone have experience welding stainless pipe with stick? I'm curious about the joint prep and technique for making the root pass. I will be welding 6" sch 80 304 stainless pipe using E308-15 electrode. Welding is uphill progression. I've never done an open root on stainless pipe with SMAW, always GMAW or GTAW.

Thanks for your reply in the other thread. The reason I posted here is I didn't get any technique advice on the other thread....hoping maybe someone would be on here who could give some prep and technique advice.
