Field connection is #7 A706, flare bevel to a column gusset plate (Closest joint I can find in D1.4-11 is 3.5(E).

So, in the field, the welder would have to perform welds in the 1G and 4G positions.

Table 6.3 lists production joints and the "joints qualified per figures".  In this case, the *closest* production joint to what will exist in the field would be 6.5(D) - Flare bevel groove indirect butt joint. 

What I am stumbling on is theTable 6.3 "Joints Qualified per Figures".  In this case, Figure 3.3(C) is specified.

Before I saw the reference to 3.3(C), my intent was to have 2 tension samples fabricated in accordance with 6.5(D), and 2 macroetch samples fabricated in accordance with 6.5(D).

I guess I am not seeing why 3.3(C) was referenced?

Any help would be appreciated....
