Lawrence,
Now its weld profiles???
It doesn't matter how many square pegs you bring to the table the hole is still round.

Boy, I wish I wasn't protesting.

Think linear versus nonlinear. Which is more detrimental to the weld? Also consider the location of the defect, surface breaking versus subsurface. Then consider where the highest fiber stresses are located, surface versus subsurface. Lastly, consider the NDE method; visual.

Weld profile takes into account those considerations when setting the limits of acceptance. The attributes called profile are a consideration when performing VT in accordance with Table 6.1.

Best regards - Al

Which in this context means?
Parent - - By Lawrence (*****) Date 04-09-2014 15:02
if the profile is wrong, does it matter what causes it to be wrong?

Is that really extrapolating to suit my desperate need to validate 6.1

Maybe I'm trying too hard and D1.1 isn't trying hard enough

Its been a  good discussion.
Occasionally we need to awaken ourselves from our dogmatic slumber.
