I came across this very interesting, albeit long-winded, article on the so-called skilled labor shortage.

It covers many skilled trades, with a welding pitch at the end.

I don't know, but there definitely is a shortage of powerful and well equipped domestic extended cab 4WD 3/4 ton pickups. I continually visit the dealerships all over the region, willing to pay as much as 20,000 dollars for a new one, yet none are ever available.
