Clause 5.7.5 of AWS D1.5:2010 states:

"5.7.5 Joints Not Conforming to Figure 2.4 or 2.5. When the Contractor use groove weld details that do not conform to the details of Figure 2.4 or 2.5, the WPSs using these details shall be qualified by test as described in 5.12.4 using Figure 5.3. Bend and tensile tests shall be used to evaluate soundness. The mechanical properties of the weld metal shall be determined by the WPS testing described in 5.12, using Figure 5.1."

Whereas, below Figure5.3, there is note shows:"THE GROOVE CONFIGURATION IS FOR ILLUSTRATION ONLY.THE GROOVE SHAPE USED SHALL CONFROM TO THAT BEING QUALIFIED".

So if a PJP T-joint which do not conforming to figure 2.4 or 2.5. How to perform bend and tensile test on this joint?

For example, this PJP T-joint is similar as TC-P5-GF, and T1 is only 8mm. Which is out of the range of minimum thickness requirment.

Thank you for your time.
