Anyone have any information about the proposed Nuclear AP1000 plant in Gaffney SC?  It is really close to home and I would really like to get off the road and plan on working there, but I heard it might not start until 2016.  I was hoping that I might have heard wrong and would love to hear it is already started :-)

I am not sure what the status is.  I have an unofficial report from an unnamed source I am corresponding with about a 2 month project to support mockup welding for reactors at (an) unknown location(s).  They may or may not be the AP1000  LOL

I encourage everyone to do their own research.  Google is your friend, but a trusted contact that has seen the jobsite in person is always your best reference.

As far as I know, the AP-1000 is the new Westinghouse design.  The official Westinghouse website is your best bet, then drill down from there to locate information about the job site(s).  I found a report of one in GA that is on hold.

This website looks suspect to me, but it is the only "datapoint" in my files.  I will continue searching from the Westinghouse.com root URL.

I am familiar with the AP1000 design as I've been working on it for over a year now and I saw that there was a proposed addition of an AP1000 going in at William Lee location in Gaffney, Sc.

I was hoping someone might have some more insight on the proposed date.
