Hello all.
I bought a couple of 10-foot black plumbing pipe from HomeDepot. I wanted to make a very simple bike stand, nothing fancy.
My question is - which welding setup should I use to make good 90degree welds - stick welding or gas welding or MIG or TIG?
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Depends very much on what type you bought. They sell many different pipe materials including steel or iron.

It is steel (says on the upc sticker).
Black steel pipe is (in my experience) easy to weld. Use any process you are comfortable with.

The only pipe choices I've seen at the local Home Depot were A53 lacquer coated and A53 Galvanized. The A53 welds like mild or structural steel (same electrodes), just be sure to remove the lacquer or galvanizing from the weld zones. Your Home depot should be able to confirm if their pipe is also A53.

Thanks, guys.
Hi, If the metal you are welding is thin tig would be the best.
