Hello all....having issues with this one...while welding gauges bounce irregularly and leads jump as if you were gouging.... Any thoughts

How do the RPMs on the engine sound?  Are they steady or do they fluctuate with the gauges bouncing and arc gouging?  A diesel RPM is set by fuel flow.  If your fuel filter is old/dirty it can starve the machine and tends to "slug" gulps of diesel when it becomes available which can result in higher RPMS and fluctuating current.  Are all the gauges bouncing  or just amp meter?

Are you leaving your leads curled up on the reels on each side of the machine?

If you are you don't have a problem. It's natural magnetism causing the guages to react

and the coil effect causing the leads to jump.

Hey Coonbait,

If you want someone with plenty of experience with engine drive welders, then call Kay Sellon of Bill's Welder Repair Service out of OKC, OK and tell her what's going on with your machine... They're one of the best outfits in the country when it comes to repairing engine drive welders of any brand motor installed especially on Lincolns of any model...

Here's their website: http://www.billswelderrepair.com/home.html

Good luck!

Respectfully,
Henry
