been a while since I welded aluminum, not too bad on the inside.   Butt joint no gap, TIG DC straight polarity.

What did it look like before you ground it?
Never tried DC on Al my self... the inside looks sweet. I would venture to say full pen has been obtained...

the outside looked like the inside, just I'm making a stock for my brother, and he didn't want to see the welds :(
DC is just like oxy-weld aluminum, you know aluminum is either solid or liquid and you can't tell when it's about to change.  I'm using DC because I don't have a welder that's capable of AC.

did u have to use helium as your shielding gas? i tried dc aluminum once with argon it didn't work i was told i had rouse helium.

I use argon, have used helium in the past for thick stuff, 3/4" or better, I'm welding 1/8" right now.

no kidding, guess the aluminum has to be super clean.
