Good Morning,

Once upon a time I saw a weld caculator to determine costs of wire and gas usage. We are using hotwire Tig with .035 625 inconel @ 143IPM and 40cfh of 100% argon. I am trying to dial in exactly how much were spending per hour in consumables. Also how many inches or feet of wire is on a 33lb spool? Thankyou in advance, Shannon

This should bring you pretty close.

Thankyou Lawerence, am I reading this right that there's 304 ft per spool? That figure seems low.

kind regards,  Shannon

304 feet per pound  :)

10032 feet per 33 pound spool

304 x 12 = 3648 inches per pound.

143 inches per minute x 60 = 8580 inches (715 feet) of filler per hour.

715 feet divided by 304 feet per pound = 2.35 lbs. per hour deposition rate. Assuming a 100% operating factor and 100% electrode efficiency

If you go to the bottom of that page it tells you to divide by 1.067 to get the anwser.

Ok so make the above assumptions based on 284 feet rather than 304 :)

gas is easy, scfh as read by flowmeter x cost per unit of measure usually per 100 SCF
