ASME SEC IX - QW 304 - please somebody could me clarify if we can qualified alternatively the bend test by volumetric NDE using GTAW when making groove weld aluminium alloys PN 21 through 26

If you are qualifying welders, I believe you can use either volumetric examination or guided bend tests (GBT), but be sure to check your construction code to see if they permit NDT in lieu of GBT. I know that B31.3 for high pressure fluid service only GBT are permitted for performance testing and the WPSs used for production must have been qualified by the contractor, i.e., Standard WPSs are not permitted.
