working with asme, and I was just wondering if every welder needs to qualify to every wps submitted or is it a completely separate certification (position and process) and they will be qualified for the wps?

I mean do they all need to do testing again for newly certified wps

Landon,
Working with ASME, AWS or other codes, the welder needs to be qualified so that the essential variables of his/her WPQR cover the applicable essential variables of the WPSs to be employed in production welds. If the welder is qualified to Weld in horizontal position, E6010 (F3) and..., he/she will be qualified to Weld epmploying different WPSs involving horizontal position, E6010 (F3, and F2 and F1 Electrodes)...
