In many industrial units, there are documents centers which include drawings, technical sheets of the different parts, plans, ITPs, procedures and “REPORTS” for materials, corrosion, inspection, welding, NDT, repair, construction, design and … standards, handbooks, recommended practices, instructional videos, presentations, specifications, codes and maintenance procedures and many more data about that unit. These data can also be used for the Reverse Engineering. Then, when someone enters such an industrial unit for work, he/she must spend some time to get familiar with these documents, reports and procedures, the different parts and departments of that industrial unit, devices, instruments and also the related staff of there. Having related certificates and university degrees is advantageous. Because it shows that one has background in that field. Reverse Engineering can handle many matters in the industry. Besides which, searching in internet and asking the matters in the professional networks (some important cases of which I have previously introduced) is helpful for solving industrial problems. Reverse Engineering is the process of analyzing an existing system to identify its components and their interrelationships and create representations of the system in another form or at a higher level of abstraction. Reverse engineering is usually undertaken in order to redesign the system for better maintainability or to produce a copy of a system without access to the design from which it was originally produced. Experience is vital for industrial professionals. The more experience, the more ability to handle industrial matters. Lots of industrial matters are repetitive. Therefore, since one has previously dealt with these problems, then he/she knows well how to handle them. Experience is knowledge obtained by doing.
However, there are many matters in the industry which have never been previously handled or solved. In such cases, Universities, Research Centers and Institutes and the Research and Development (R&D) Departments of those industrial units play the important role for handling those matters. Going to the industries and communications with industrial professionals, reveal those research needs. The output of such research works can be as scientific papers in the conferences, magazines and journals, handbooks …. Since these articles are applied, then they will have many citations. Also such types of articles are top ranked in the outstanding scientific conferences and congresses. The high impact factor ISI journals are looking for applied papers to publish. To ensure, please read the “Authors Guide” part for the high impact factor ISI journals and the outstanding scientific conferences and congresses. As an example of these types of R&D works, one of my papers
entitled “Hydrogen Induced Cracking Analysis of a Pressure Vessel Made of SA 516 Gr 70 Steel Using Phased Array Technology” was ranked amongst the top 3 % of all the papers in the website of www.academia.edu. This site now has over 11 million registered users as of 2014. Ultrasonic Phased Array Technology is a top subject for researchers these days. There are many needs for research papers in this
field. It is a revolution in NDT. And it is new and high technology, innovative, cheap, accurate, environmentally friendly, safe, cost saving and quick….
