My Shop has a client that wants the Weld Cell they plan to have us make be compliant to AWS D15.1 and D15.2 Standards.  We do not have a copy yet.  What Portions of the standards will pertain to a robotic weld cell?  Will We have to have a certified Inspector certify the machine??

Hatchetman,

WELCOME TO THE AWS WELDING FORUM!!

First, please refrain from posting in multiple departments.  It only confuses trains of discussion by separating the responses.

Now, D15 is Railroad code.  I don't think the code is interested nor deals with the Weld Cells that one may use to accomplish the work.

As such I'm not really sure I understand what you are trying to find out.  Can you give us more information?

He Is In Control, Have a Great Day,  Brent

It's Ok Brent, I took out(deleted) the duplicate post in the other forum before others had a chance to reply over there.

Thank you -- And Sorry for the duplicate postings.  I was have difficulty with the server security. I did try to find the duplicate but could not find it --

As for the robot cell.   The company I work for is just entering the market as a integrator.  We also service older robots.   Our potential Client sent us an email, to quote, "Make sure the weld cell is compliant to AWS D15.1 and AWS D15.2".  Our Company does not have a copy of those Standards.  From our internet research into the standard, We are curious as to what the request means to pertaining to building a Weld Cell.

We do have a copy of ANSI/RIA R15.06 - 2012 that we adhere too for new and refurbished weld cells.

By any chance, would you actually be referring to the AWS D16 Specifications concerning robotic welding?

Either a typo or similar mistake.  I really don't think they are referring to the Railroad code.
