Gentleman,
New to welding manganese plate 14% to A36 plate. This project comes around 1-2 times per year, but qty's are high. We have been fighting cold crater cracking for years, recently changed from 309L bare wire to a flux cored stainless 309L.
Waiting for results...
Customer requirements AWS E309, E310 or approved equivalent FCAW process per AWS D15.1.
Wear Plates are approximate 22"  long  x  6" wide Stack on top of one another (fixture to keep flat and located top and bottom plate) Bottom plate manganese top plate A36 has 1/4' gap around perimeter for 3/16 fillet. (1 1/2" long)  and qyt (5) 5/8' slots for welding as well.
Approximately 42" of weld on these small plates. See photos

Doing some research it appears that weld cracking has been an issue joining these dissimilar materials in the past

Looking for recommendations for weld process and correct weld wire.

Your Help is always appreciated.
