Toey, you are having difficulty calculating travel speed. The following equation shows how I calculate heat input.
L is the total length of the test assembly.
S is the number of seconds to weld the entire length (per pass). Don't forget to stop the stop watch if the weld is interrupted to change electrodes, rods, or any other reason.
Here in the US we are using inches per minute for travel speed, but it can just as well be mm/minute if you like. Notice that "60" constant cancels out in the numerator as well as the denominator. The 60 in the numerator is to give you an answer in Joules/inch, while the 60 in the denominator is to convert travel speed from inches /second to inches per minute. Either way, the terms cancel.
The heat input is calculated in terms of Joules per inch.
I hope I did it correctly. I see I misspelled Joules in the formula.
