We are stud welding using FCAW.  Some the welds needed additional work, due to improper weld size or porosity or the like.   An inspector is asserting post repair, the stud shall be bent 15 degrees from its original axis citing AWS D 1.1 clause 7.8.1.  I believe that section is limited to failure of a full flash or a stud that needs repair.

I believe the weld can be repaired tot he requirement of the Code, clause 7.5.5.7, pursuant to Clause 7.8.5.  there is no requirement to bend the stud.
