Tungsten does not really 'age'. It should be fine. And, if that is a 'RED' banded 2% Thoriated all should be well in your welding world. You really don't want the 'Green' pure tungsten but about any others are fine.

It will probably weld better than the stuff you can buy today, none of which is made in America, and which seems to erode faster than the domestic stuff made 30 years ago or so.
