Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / Lay wire technique for aluminum welding

Hi all, i have learned recently from one of the older posts regarding lay wire technique for aluminum welding. Lawrence recommended not to use this technique because bottom radius of the filler wire won't get the cathodic cleaning as it might escape DCRP cycle cleaning action of arc hence causing lack of fusion and oxide inclusions.
By taking this concept i have a question that can i use EB consumable inserts for aluminum welding? EB inserts are basically preplaced filler metal so will the same problem of lack of fusion and oxide inclusions will exist if i use consumable insert for aluminum welding?
Thanx all in advance.

Frank Armao, Director of Aluminum Welding for Lincoln, says the same problem exists.

Sorry I misjudged your vast knowledge, honeybunch!:grin::grin:

I just thought your enigmatic reply indicated a lack of knowledge of Armao's qualifications. Perhaps you should try for more clarity next time!:confused:

"Hmmm" does leave a lot of room for any old private interpretation.
