ASME brazing question

To anyone familiar with ASME brazing spec.'s, can you tell me if there are diameter limits applicable to performance brazing qualifications? I cannot seem to find anything in the QW section of ASME IX that addresses diameter limits. Thanks in advance!!

That's because it isn't in QW. Its in QB.

But to answer your question, the only essential variables for brazing performance qual that come close is base metal thickness QB-402.3, which refers you to QB-452, and overlap of the joint QB-408.1 (all references are 2010 edition, all I have with me)

There are no diameter rules for performance. Procedure qual has diameter rules.

We do a fair amount of brazing, and we add additional restrictions on max diameter for performance qual.

Just for informational purposes QB-251 are all essential variables for Brazing procedure qualification and QB-351 are all essential variables for brazing performance qualification. Hope you're off and running. :wink:
