does anyone have any experience with TIG welding brass? i know its uncommon, but i tried it, and it wasn't pretty. i wonder if anyone on the board is proficient at it themselves.

What filler metal are you using?

Try AC with bronze wire if you want to use filler, it worked beautifully for me!

I did this a bit -- the problem as I understand it is that the zinc in the brass really wants to burn at the melting temperature of the metal. Just be careful with the heat and use more shielding gas. I like the suggestion of bronze rod, too. And watch the fumes!

Try ampco 10 from weldmold or try some silicon bronze rod.
