Been welding for a company for 15 years now and considered venturing out on my own any suggestions from anyone.

Don't know how or why this drew no response previously, but, thanks to someone who boosted/refreshed it, I will offer some suggestions but need to start with some questions:

1) What type of work have you been doing?
2) What type of work to you want to do?  (for both 1 & 2: Pipe, structural, refineries, powerplants, etc)
3) What type of network/contacts do you have for possible contracts?
4) What kind of equipment do you have?  All set up for this?
5) What have you found about insurance?  Gen Liab, on site auto, workers comp, etc.
6) Do you plan on doing any advertising?
7) Do you have an emergency fund?
8) Do you have a copy of the codes you will be working to?

Suggestions: start by answering all these questions for yourself.  Post them if you like.
Be ready to spend money.
Be ready to be unemployed.
Be ready to make lots of phone calls and send lots of letters.

Best wishes and good luck.
