Gentlemen,

I'm currently working on a dissimilar procedure for A36 to A514 (P1 to P15b), I have welders qualified for P1 to P1 in another procedure, Per QW423.1 I think per this section they would also be qualified for P1 to P15b?, as 15b is included in the grouping.

Fred, as far as the base metals go, this might be true.... (Is the second base metal included?  I thought it was P1 - P11 and don't recall p15b being included?) HOWEVER, just make sure you triple check all of the other essential variables too because sometimes things change... like purge gases just as one example, filler metal may be another.  Just make sure you've got all the essential variables covered and nothing changes from similar to dissimilar welding.  Have fun along the way.

Ahh shoot, your right! I should have double checked before typing it here, can't go by memory!  11b, and yes, I know they I would need to make sure it all jived with the essential variables.

Thanks Jon!
