Hello,

I received a U-1 form for evaluation. It is for a vertical vessel made of stainless steel SA240 - 304L material, .25" thick, 6 ft DIA and 7'7" long
Under the Longitudinal Seams portion of the form, the customer wrote:
- WLF (with RT: None and Efficiency: 55%), and another entry shows
- WDB (with RT: Partial and Efficiency: 85%)
Before going back to the customer, could you help me identifying these two acronyms, WLF and WDB?
Any help appreciated.

Thank you,
George

I’m guessing the “WLF” is for a double fillet lap (Type 4) as per ASME Section VIII, Div. 1, Table UW-12.
And “WDB” is for a double welded butt joint (Type 1), I think!!!!
Never seen them used that way before!!!!

This was our interpretation too.
Thank you,
George
