Hi,

We are doing butt weld in extended bonnets (pressure containing part of a valve)

Material : Carbon steel & Stainless steel

Base material thickness varies from : 5.0 mm to 80.0 mm

Design will be like, upper case + Pipe + Lower case. (2 joints in a single bonnet)

Currently i am insisting to do RT exam for all welds.

I would like to know any code / standard tells about the RT exam requirement for these kind of welded joints?
Our product is Valves.

Regards,
Rakhul.

ASME has jurisdiction over pressure retaining components. There are standards that may apply to the component you are fabricating. Do a search for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and locate their webpage listing all their codes and standards. I'm sure you will find something in line with the type of component you are fabricating.

Best regards - Al
