Just throwing this out to anyone that may be interested.

I am putting together a welder workmanship course for a couple of New England fabricators. I am opening it up to any fabricators/manufacturers that need workmanship training for their welders.

The training meets the requirements of NAVSEA TP248.

The course can also be used to meet the classroom training requirements of NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 for visual inspection.

This is the first time the training has been opened up to the public. There is a requirement that the employer be engaged in welding and fabrication to the requirements of NAVSEA S9074-AR-GIB-010/278.

Seating is limited.

Contact me if you are interested.

Best regards - Al

I may have someone contact you. I was going to get something together here for a govt. contractor. I thought the course had to be product specific?

The training must include the fabrication documents applicable to the work performed. The training has to be approved by a Level III Examiner (in accordance with the requirements of the new TP271). The training program has to be acceptable to the shipyard and eventually, it filters up to SupShips or NAVSEA for their blessing.

As you are well know, many welders do not understand the fundamentals, so my course covers the welding processes, welding symbols, metallurgy, as well as the navy standards. There is hands-on inspection to ensure they understand how to measure welds and to visually verify the welds meet the requirements of the applicable acceptance criteria.

This is the first time I've opened the training to the "public." As mentioned, they have to be engaged in NAVSEA work or in the process of qualifying for NAVSEA work.

Gotcha. I think they will probably just develop something and get it off to a Levell III. Is the TP271 different than the old standard as far as LIII qualifications?

Thanks

Gerald.
