Hello,

To facilitate the installation of the heads inside the basin, I would like to weld (qualified weld) a temporary lug (same material) on the head to put a tension to help me position it. Then, I remove it, grind it and pass a PT (NDT).  However, I do not find any indication that it is permissible or prohibited in the ASME Sect IX.

Do you have any information as to whether it is permissible to have a temporary weld on a pressure vessel ?

Thanks

Temporary or any other weld must be performed by an organization authorized to weld on pressure vessels. The WPS and Welder qualifications mean nothing without being the authorized organization.

This is assuming an ASME pressure vessel.

You maybe looking in at the wrong channel Bro:confused: Refer to Construction code rather than in Sec IX.
