I recently provided some 11 gauge type 304 Stainless steel containment pans for an equipment manufacturer to set metal lathe and drilling equipment into. These pans have 3 1/2" sidewalls and were break formed from sheets. Corners and seams where the pans were joined were field welded with GMAW application. All welds were visually checked then pans filled with water tightness.

Now months later the manufacturer of the equipment wants a letter stating the pans are leak proof? What criteria should I include in the letter.

Nothing that was not agreed upon in the original contract or purchase order.

No mention of any codes, standards or certifications. There was no specification for this project either.

Just oil-tight welded pan, all welded seams to be ground even, edges broken, flattened as required for machine set points.

How can you say they are leak proof? If you performed Helium LT on them they would leak......Sounds like a bit of covering the 'ole behind is going on. Just say what you did as per contract and that you have documentation to back up with.
