Hi all,
I tried a search but did not find any info.
I was wondering what everyone thought about welding A193 threaded rod to a36 plate.
Thanks

I need to make a wps ect for the A193 but its not listed in the approved material in D1.1. we have been welding it but we are being asked to make a procedure.

It is a chrome-moly steel alloy. It is usually used for high temperature application requiring good creep strength.

I suspect it is rather easily hardened if proper preheat isn't used. It's weldability is suspect especially if one does not have the exact chemistry and if the WPS isn't qualified.

On a serious note, A193 B7 grade which I presume is meant as I can't seem to remember a B77 grade, is a low alloy stud bolt equivalent to AISI 4140. A WPS would be advisable.
