My boss has a marine part (part of a supercharger for a friends boat). The assembly is mainly copper-coated carbon steel however there is an outlet which is copper (I assume for heat disspation coming off the supercharger). The copper outlet appears to be a forging and is cracked nearly completely around. We would like to try to TIG weld it, it's not a huge deal if we're unsuccessful because it will likely need replacement anyway. Any suggestions as to technique would be most appreciated!

You may want to look at brasing it.

I have used standard house wire to TIG weld freeze seal jackets for piping repairs. This may be an option for you. Good Luck
