i just recieved a call regarding a repair on a coupling welded in a 2" thick blind flange made of alloy 9310 the customer is telling us. after a quick search i cannot find anything on what P number this alloy would be. what p number is this and what grou is this? curious if one of our welding procedures will cover us or not.
Are you sure that it isn't a AISI 4130 blind flange?
This is posted to the ASME group, so I assume we are speaking of the ASME B&PC code. That being the case, ASME doesn't assign P numbers to AISI material specifications.
If you must comply to ASME, the answer is no because AISI material specifications do not list mechanical properties.
Alloy 9310 is an unassigned(P#) material
