Now we have preparing to qualification of tack weld in accordance with AWS D1.1. so please advise which specimen thickness should be use for this qualification?

Hi Noking,
The "Tack welder" test assembly for qualifying is shown in Figure 4.39 (AWS D1.1:2010)
This figure shows 1/2" [12mm] thick materials being used.
