Hi, We are working with a Mining Client in Australia. Our fabrication is in China with fabricators who normally use AWS. WE have used numerous fabricator in China for Australian companies, however we have difficulty convincing this one. Is there a simple way to confirm that AWS meets the requirements for AS1554.? Thanks

Hi Lee,
Welcome to the AWS Forum.

There isn't a document (that I know of), that compares AS1554 to AWS D1.1(?).

You will have to create a spreadsheet (matrix) of compliance.  Good Luck.

AWS D1.1 is a Code whereas AS1554 is a Std

•A code is a model, a set of rules that knowledgeable people recommend for others to follow. It is not a law, but can be adopted into law.

•A standard is a more detailed elaboration than a code. May be defined as level of quality, achievement that is considered acceptable or desirable.

My experince with Australian companies operating in China, they will not start until the documents and fabrication set-up are in order, they are very good paymaster, they'll really follow what has been agreed as per contract.
